Highlands Rewilding Model and Exciting News

Highlands Rewilding
Highlands Rewilding seeks to help rewild and re-people the Scottish Highlands by increasing carbon sequestration, growing biodiversity, creating green new jobs and generating sustainable profit for purpose. By managing land this way, we aim to become a world leader in accelerating nature-based solutions that can help fight the existential and related crises of climate meltdown, biodiversity collapse, and social inequality, whilst helping to rebuild local economies.
We have a unique operating model combining three key elements:
-
Natural-capital data is the vital key to breakthrough: We aim to generate the data that can reliably underpin credits in natural-capital, so making the nature-recovery industry confidently investable, so helping tip it into the exponential growth needed for a liveable future. We target returns, rooted in our data-collection and processing, attractive enough to draw significant investment into our own business, scaling our nature-recovery operations, and building prosperity in the communities where we work

We are a mass ownership company

We are rooted in the communities where we work
Against a challenging backdrop for climate action, we have just released a new action plan for February to May 2025 encompassing the following key needs:
-
Raise at least £5m in a new fundraising round - targeting family offices, high net-worth individuals, progressive investment companies with new nature funds and government pension schemes and a few foundations
-
Sell some of our land and property
-
Strike a balance in our twin track of fundraising and asset sales
-
Position ourselves for growth as a data-led nature-recovery service provider - this will allow us to scale by offering services to landowners of all kinds, leveraging our strengths in data, science, and nature management, captured well in our recently published Fourth Annual Natural Capital Report.
Our offer to members: Highlands Rewilding would welcome the interest and engagement of KlimateNet members as investors, and/or buyers of assets that we can partner with in land management for nature recovery, and/or as clients for nature-related solutions, and/or any other ways they might think of to help us achieve our purpose of community-centred nature recovery taken to scale through rewilding.
