About the event

Biochar is a natural solution based on transforming remains of crops into a "char" that has the credible and evidenced benefits of fertilising soils but also absorb green house gas emissions.

Burning biomass in low-oxygen conditions creates biochar, a carbon-rich substance that some experts tout as the key to soil rejuvenation. Relatively lightweight and porous, biochar can act like a sponge and serve as a habitat for many beneficial soil microorganisms that are known to promote soil and plant health.

One of our contributors, a practitioner from KlimateNet partner Biochar Life will share with you what producing biochard involves. The second contributor will explain her role as an "auditor" so that Biochar Life can be accredited to sell "carbon removal credits" to generate an income to develop more Biochar Life projects
