Introduction
The ecology of Bettadahalli Kavala and its surrounding areas has been suffering due to environmental degradation and lack of proper water conservation structures. The once-thriving lake has completely dried up, severely impacting not only the water supply but also agricultural productivity, biodiversity, and local livelihoods. Both people and animals now face severe water scarcity, with significant depletion of groundwater and a declining ecosystem. The primary reasons behind the degradation of the lake include poor maintenance, lack of bunds, broken water flow structures, no connectivity to downstream lakes, soil erosion, and flooding during the monsoon. This proposal outlines a holistic plan to rejuvenate the lake and restore the surrounding ecosystem.
