For the fifth edition of the acclaimed TEDxWoodLane series, the organisers will once again bring together visionaries, changemakers, and storytellers for an independently hosted event in London on November 7th, 2025.


This year’s call for speakers received an overwhelming 76 video submissions, a testament to the urgency and creativity shaping today’s climate and social impact conversations.


The final speaker lineup will be unveiled at a special preview gathering at Soho House Istanbul on August 25th, 2025.

How tiny organisms shape our planet | Dr. Emanga Alobwede | TEDxWoodLaneWomen


Join Dr. Emanga Alobwede as she shares how tiny soil organisms play a massive role in shaping our planet and food systems. From restoring degraded lands to capturing carbon, these invisible heroes are key to tackling climate change and sustaining agriculture. Discover how microbes might just be nature's secret weapon for a healthier future. With over a decade of experience spanning academia, business, and government, Dr. Emanga Alobwede is a sustainability professional and interdisciplinary scientist. She currently leads the environmental science division at BX. Her academic credentials include a PhD in Environmental Biotechnology from the University of Sheffield, an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London, and a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Nottingham. She served governmental roles as a Senior Soil Scientist and Policy Advisor. During her postdoctoral research, she co-founded a start-up on algae-based biofertilisers, winning several entrepreneurship awards. She has been featured on BBC Horizon, highlighted the potential of these biofertilisers to improve soil health and crop productivity, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional fertilisers.
