Introduction
San Dimas is facing an urgent ecological crisis: polluted water, degraded soil, and collapsing biodiversity due to climate change and land mismanagement. In response, the Market Maker initiative is restoring vital ecosystems while creating sustainable livelihoods.
Led by forest engineer Benito Acevedo, and supported by NAT5, UFAT, and CDFAI, the project brings together decades of local experience and a market-based mechanism—1.24 million Verified Biodiversity Base Credits—to fund conservation and rural development.
Project Objective
Conserve and restore forest and watershed systems
Enable long-term biodiversity monitoring and protection
Create dignified employment in conservation brigades
Provide clean water, energy, healthcare, and education to rural communities
